Legislative Action

The New Mexico State Legislature convenes every year on the third Tuesday in January to determine the laws and expenditures of our state. Sessions last for sixty days during odd-numbered years and thirty days on even-numbered years. The Legislature is composed of both a House and a Senate, with 70 House members and 42 Senators for a total of 112 lawmakers.
