Cabinet members serve at the Governor's discretion and together form a constructive advisory board in assisting the Governor's in running the affairs of state, with reporting duties based on their respective agencies. Currently, the Governor’s Cabinet is comprised of Secretaries and Directors of nearly thirty agencies each of whom deal with particular issues the Governor deems as an important part of the overall health of our state and its people.

Sandra Perez, Director
State Personnel Office
Sandra Perez has over 25 years of professional human resource and executive management experience in both the private and public sector. Governor Richardson appointed Mrs. Perez to be New Mexico’s State Personnel Director in 2004 after experiencing a successful career in the classified service. Mrs. Perez has dedicated her career to making the impossible possible by her mission of being flexible and responsive. Mrs. Perez believes it is better to create an environment that encourages people to be exceptional by having the right people for the right jobs. She seeks people with excellent customer service skills, leadership ability, accountability, commitment and who can grasp the idea of teamwork. Mrs. Perez has taken on the exceptional task of changing the face of state government with the execution of the Single Point of Contact concept. This concept includes an innovative Strategic Human Resource Plan that when fully implemented in New Mexico will be a model for all states in the future.
