Division Director II

Identity, Equity and Transformation Division

Purpose

Support leadership and oversight of Identity, Equity and Transformation Division, in partnership with the Deputy Secretary, with a key focus on special education initiatives and all Martinez/Yazzie identified role groups (100%)

  • Manage direct and indirect oversight of key agency programs and staff (30%)
    • Family Income Index/At-Risk Intervention Response Funding
    • MY Response Team
      • Providing constituent services support for Special Education Division in partnership with current community and family liaison, students with disabilities specialist, division deputy and division director
    • Anti-Racism Anti Oppression Hotline
    • Student, School and Family Support
    • Student Success and Wellness
    • Safe and Healthy Schools
  • Provide assistance and guidance to other Division Directors and Liaisons to support development and execution of assigned tasks (20%)
    • Key focus on Special Education Division
  • Support the development and implementation of a cross-agency, state-wide action plan regarding Martinez/Yazzie and strategic planning (20%)
    • collaborate with state-wide division leaders and their teams
    • ensure the plans are aligned to the mission and vision of the agency and court mandates
    • communicate the plan to all leaders in the agency and the state to foster collaboration in this work with all divisions and bureaus
    • monitor LEA and charter compliance providing technical assistance and thought partnership as needed
      • Key focus on all identified role groups (Students with Disabilities, Native American Students, Economically Disadvantaged Students and Students identified as English Learners)
    • Monitor all division budgets (15%)
      • conduct program reviews
      • develop monitoring tools
      • interpret state and federal law to ensure budgets are in compliance
      • Thought partner with Special Education Division and Students with Disabilities Specialist to identify additional funding sources to support transformational efforts
    • Lead special projects as assigned: (15%)
      • representing the Deputy Secretary when she is not available
      • developing resources and providing relevant technical assistance for all stakeholder groups
      • developing and delivering professional development to all stakeholder groups
      • Supporting Special Education Transformation Team in partnership with existing team members and contractors
Minimum and Recommended Qualifications

A Master’s Degree in any relevant field of study from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of professional level experience with a strategic impact directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment (state level experience preferred). Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling fourteen (14) years may substitute for the required education and experience. A hiring agency will designate a portion of the required experience to include management and/or specialized experience. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.
