Bianca Ortiz Wertheim
Cabinet Secretary for Homeland Security and Emergency Management

Bianca Ortiz Wertheim has over 20 years of experience working in policy and government organizations. She most recently served as chief of staff for U.S. Senator Tom Udall, only the second Latina in such a position in the U.S. Senate. In addition to her service at local, state and federal levels of government, Ortiz Wertheim previously worked for the American Cancer Society advocating for strong policy on behalf of survivors and their families.
Originally from Nambé in northern New Mexico, Ortiz Wertheim earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and an MBA from the University of New Mexico.
