Gov. makes appointment to New Mexico Educational Retirement Board

Jul 26, 2019 | Press Releases

SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Friday appointed a new member to the New Mexico Educational Retirement Board.

The governor appointed Steven M. Gluckstern.

The position had been vacant since 2015. Former board member Bradley Day, appointed in 2011, asked not to be re-appointed after his term expired in 2015. Former Gov. Susana Martinez never filled the vacancy.

Steven M. Gluckstern has served as founder, core investor and as a senior executive at a series of companies in the fields of educational technology and neuroscience. In addition to various philanthropic activities, he has held a wide range of entrepreneurial and executive positions, including several leadership roles in the insurance and alternative investments industries, including at Zurich Financial Services Group, Capital Z Partners and Berkshire Hathaway.

Prior to his business career, Gluckstern was a teacher and school administrator, founding an alternative educational program for middle schoolers and serving as an elementary school principal. He has also served on the Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., board of education and as superintendent of schools in Telluride, Colo.
