New Mexicans will receive full November SNAP benefits – Special session is moving forward Monday

Nov 8, 2025 | Press Releases

SANTA FE – New Mexico families received 100% of their November SNAP benefits after the state loaded the funds to EBT cards before the U.S. Supreme Court lifted a lower court order requiring the federal government to release them.

“Yesterday, after receiving guidance from the USDA, New Mexico sent full November SNAP benefits to all eligible New Mexicans,” Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham said. “We won’t stand by while the President works to deny food to hungry children, families and seniors.”

The state loaded federal SNAP food benefits to eligible New Mexicans’ EBT cards following an initial Rhode Island federal court order and subsequent guidance from the USDA. Eligible New Mexicans will see food benefits on their EBT cards on their regular issuance date. While the Supreme Court later stayed that order, New Mexico families already had full access to 100% of their full November benefits.

What eligible SNAP families need to know:

  • Families will receive their full November SNAP benefit on their regular issuance date, or on Nov. 8 if their benefit is issued Nov. 1-8.
  • Families can use the funds loaded on EBT cards.
  • Please use the ebtEDGEmobile.com app to check your card balance.
  • New Mexicans should continue applying for benefits at YES.NM.GOV, by calling 1-800-283-4465, or visiting any HCA or visiting any HCA Income Support Division office: https://www.hca.nm.gov/lookingforassistance/field_offices_1/.

Approximately 460,000 New Mexicans rely on SNAP each month for food assistance. The program also generates economic activity, producing up to $1.80 in local economic benefits for every SNAP dollar spent.

SNAP, established under the Food Stamp Act of 1964, is the nation’s largest anti-hunger program, serving approximately 42 million Americans each year.

The second special legislative session is moving forward on Monday because Republicans in Congress have not ended this needless federal government shutdown.

“We cannot leave New Mexicans at the mercy of federal dysfunction,” Lujan Grisham said. “This special session will give us the tools to feed families if Republicans in Congress fail them again. We’re not waiting around to find out.”

Lieutenant Governor Howie Morales will serve as acting governor during the special session while Lujan Grisham attends the U.N. Climate Change Conference in Brazil.

The Legislature will convene at noon Monday, Nov. 10, at the State Capitol in Santa Fe.
